Mark + Audrey…

… make a country backdrop look fabulous. oh so fabulous. Congrats Mark + Audrey and I look forward to July 31!

Mike + Rhea

What love truly looks like…

Mike + Rhea: your love is something one can only hope to have. I am so glad you found each other in this lifetime. Your special day can’t come soon enough. Cheers, love and mud, Rr.

Jenilee + PJ

If this gal looks familiar to you its because I photographed her twin sister’s wedding (Jasmine) in April 2009. It’s like deja vu, meaning twice the fun! Speaking of fun, Jenilee, PJ and I spent an afternoon of it at Santana Row in San Jose, an urban shopping development for the uber stylish, fabulous and serious masters of style. But the scenery that is takes a backseat in contrast to how smitten Jenilee + PJ are with each other. Its so stinkin cute to see how PJ admires Jenilee, and just as much to see Jenilee’s eyes light up just being around him.

Jenilee + PJ: Cheers to two people in love! August can’t come soon enough! It has been my honor! To love and an everlasting supply of Kara’s Cupcakes!

Engagement Sneak Peak

Boy it’s been quite a weekend between getting kicked out of Santana Row and being asked not to take pictures and slip sliding down a hill with all my gear in tow! All things aside I would say it was fun and added a little spice to my routine. Nonetheless my couples were SUCH great sports despite the interruptions. For now here is a sneak peak of what is in store this week:

Engagement Session – Shiila + Nick

Oh boy! It’s been a moment since I posted anything on this blog. I admit the holidays were brutal times between wrapping my head around an ever-lasting project list, simultaneously wrapping up presents and picking up a second wind to carry me through it all. It is the new year now and though I still have loose ends to tie up, I am so relieved I finally found that second wind–and a breath of fresh air to boot. That breath of fresh air comes in the form of Shiila + Nick: a ‘cute-as-buttons’ couple. Within a nano second of meeting them I knew we would get along famously. And the part that butters the bread of this story is that they trust me to document their big day this summer.

Shiila and Nick thoughtfully crafted an amazing idea for their e-session. Being big fans of the Pixar Animation UP, they planned and plotted to pull in a few colorful elements from the movie. Since the movie was focused around a makeshift parachute (a house tied to a million balloons), I became a mad woman on a mission, determined to find a house similar to the one in the animation. While driving along Highway 1, I found an abandoned home tucked away in a beautiful coastal town.

Shiila and Nick: the word ‘fun’ can’t begin to describe how exciting it was working with the two of you. Getting to know the both of you and watching you in the days leading up to your big day has been an enjoyable experience. Unlike the animation the two of you will undoubtedly be able to share adventures together. So I leave you a blank photo at the end of the post so that the two of you can continue to document the amazing and exciting uknown of what lies ahead.

Cheers!

Engagement Session: Troy + Lia

A very good friend of mine once shared her story on how she traveled miles to America to escape her native Italy. She dreamed big, craved the uncertain and held out for romance, but in the end she married an Italian much like herself. This actually isn’t far from Troy + Lia’s story. Separately, they packed their bags during college to study abroad in Sweden. Perhaps they dreamed big, craved the uncertain and maybe held out for romance.

When they met, Lia knew her heart was set on Troy. Troy on the other hand, who has always been one to base his pursuit of relationships on positive engagement, was slowly planting the emotional seed with Lia that would later bring them closer together….

Lia and Troy are now scheduled to tie the knot next May! It will be an honor to witness and document the love they travelled endless miles to find. Listening to their story reaffirms my purpose as a photographer and gives us all insight on what to look forward to when that time comes. Troy + Lia: I had a fantastic time during our e-session in Santa Cruz. Your love and affection for one another is beyond words. I wish you both a life of happiness and unchanging love. Best, Rr.
