Oh how I’ve needed something positive and funny especially after a day like today! While I would LOVE to blast a rant about how crappy and negative my day was, I have decided to focus my time and energy on something positive instead. Who likes a Debbie Downer anyway? Truth is not every day is a struggle like this one but sometimes I need to remind myself of a few things: a) I heart wedding photography for all it is and isn’t (and that is that), b) I’ve never experienced nirvana but I imagine the closest feeling that can compare is when I’m behind the lens c) this too shall pass d) the heat of wedding season is coming close – keep excited because it will be here before I know it. So to keep my spirits (and chin) up I am posting a reminder of some of my favorite moments from Weddings 08 including a note to Mr. Negativity himself.
Dear Mr. Negativity,
Thank you for making my day suck. Your attempt wasn’t half bad. You certainly winded me and got me this time around. That’s quite alright I’ll just keep moving on track as scheduled. However, I am preparing myself as I expect you’ll be throwing curve balls here and there because you are a nasty existence. But here’s the thing Mr. Negativity: the joke’s on you. If you pay close attention to the photos posted below, you’ll see that you definitely missed quite a few. Can you tell these people are having a smashing time?
Sincerely,
RizzaRiz. [Rr.]
PS: Be Happy!

Just wanted to wish everyone a belated Merry Xmas! I hope everyone made it safe and sound through the holidays whether you decided to stay local or travel far.
Though I’m not a big fan of Xmas (nor am I a bah-humbug either!), I will say that Santa was good to me this year. I still have my wonderfully wacky family, my health, my good friends, and the desire for my business that has kept going this long and strong – always leaving me hungry for more in life! In addition to all that, the soft-bellied man with the big red hat still decided to throw in a few really cool extras.
For years now, my partner in crime has given me (and I have to admit) some of the most THOUGHTFUL pressies, ever! This year alone I’ve been blabbing on and on about buying a Holga camera for our trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming (tentatively scheduled for ’09). Well, you’ll never guess who got one? One day I’ll be able to blog some of the images that come straight out of this baby. I can’t tell you how happy this little camera makes me! What a blast from the past!

My father was a photojournalist in the Philippines in his heyday. He decided on passing this lens on, a lens which, is OLDER than me by a couple years but we SO won’t go there. This Micro-NIKKOR-P Auto 1:35 f 55mm lens is what I’ll be using to capture those awesome detailed ring shots. Just look at the images it’s been able to produce for the first time in a few decades! This is one serious butt-kicking lens!

Gift cards were a few among some really cool things I got this year. Out of necessity over any other thing I desired this holiday, I trekked out to Keeble + Shuchat in Palo Alto and decided on getting an ExpoDisc. Color is such an important aspect of my work and now that will get triple enhanced with this lil guy in my arsenal of gear goodies. And yes, I did use the ExpoDisc to color correct for all the shots on this post.

Well hello there! My apologies for the recent interruption, but I’ve been out o’ commission as in el sick-o in this inferno! In between naps I’ve been spending time gutting this blog to pieces. So if you’ve been following for a while, you’ll know that this blog has FINALLY seen its destination! However, in the process of updating I deleted some rather important posts which I’ll be needing to post back up in a few here. So that means starting from scratch and trying to resurrect some awesome thoughts I had in mind about the folks in my recent e-sessions :-( You can still visit my old grass roots (aka, old blog) here.
In even better news, my website is FINALLY going live! It will take a few days but the new URL is www.rizzariz.com. I can’t tell you how excited I am about that as well! (below are a few screenshots of what is in store). Give it a few days, for now you’ll probably get some generic ‘godaddy’ url. I’ve been SO exhausted (not to mention sick with a high fever and sinus infection) that I didn’t bother with a construction page! Oh, and not to mention, wanted to give a few people some shout outs here on my new digs and new looks. A HUGE HUGE HUGE thank you goes out to Socorro Soberano and Rosemary Mamisay for revamping my whole new identity. Socorro came up with the delectable type treatments to compliment my logo courtesy of Rosemary Mamisay.
Below, some screenshots of what’s in store! My intro page….

The logo selection process in its infancy! It was a tough decision to make!
